Role: Publishing Producer/QA Manager | Tools: GameMaker, Trello, SourceTree | Duration: 3 Months | Team Size: 7
During the development time on JackQuest, the team at Blowfish Studios worked with the lead developer, NX Games, in order to bring his passion project to market on modern consoles. The team at Blowfish primarily handled the release and porting of the project across all game systems. This did present a unique challenge for us, as it was our first GameMaker title that we had worked on, as such it required some significant learning to ensure a successful release.
Publishing Producer
During my time as the Publishing Producer for JackQuest, I set myself the professional goal of ensuring a simultaneous release that could be adequately prepared for by ensuring we had safety builds approved by platforms well in advance of the planned release date. My task responsibilities on the project were:
Set deliverables and milestones, ensuring all team members were aware of and agreed to these in order to ensure a stable, on-time release.
Source localisation for all in-game text, dialogue and digital storefronts.
Set up and prepare digital storefronts for release, ensuring that these were all approved by the various platform holders ahead of schedule for ease.
Ordered and distributed promotional game codes to the various PR and marketing teams who would be assisting with the promotion of the game.
QA Manager
During my time as the QA Manager on JackQuest my roles and responsibilities were:
Develop QA Test plans specifically for JackQuest, and prepare it for console certification.
Ensure that all development teams were aware of specific requirements that the title had to meet in order to achieve certification.
Regression and exploratory testing of the Title, especially when leading up to key milestones.
Leading the rest of the QA team on the testing process and ensuring we were all efficiently cross-testing platforms.
